Lower control arms (suspension NOOB)

Fuck my life

So theres a knocking coming from my suspension as of today, went and had it checked out and I was told the lower ball joints are fucked, like totally completely, about to fall apart, giant black dildo in the ass.... fucked and the guy looked up the part and said I need to replace the whole fucking control arm (540 a piece, but that was his price) and I was looking at it and I thought this looks an awful lot like the ingalls ball joints, maybe thats all I need?

Well if someone could please clarify soon, because my car is out of commission till I get this fixed, that would be hugely appreciated!

BTW the reason this sucked so bad for me is because I just started a new job and have like $60 to my name and don't get paid till this time next month

I believe you can get the ingalls upper arms and then buy the moog lower ball joints. The control arms and lower ball joints are the only things ive had to replace so far in 7 years of having my cl. These seem to be the first thing to go.

I didn't notice you said the lower control arm, the only one i see ingalls makes is the upper one but im not positive on that. This link shows the ingalls parts excelerateperformance sells for our car. http://store.excelerateperformance.c...t/g-50202.aspx

Also this site shows the oem lower arm and has it at $132 each. http://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/i...03&version=2DR SPORT&transmission=KA6MT&section=CHASSIS&component s=FRONT LOWER ARM&submit=submit

no such thing as lower ball joints in the lower control arm, they are in the knuckle itself, so you would be getting a whole new knuckle

honda likes replacing ball joints as assembly, but as said you found them with the moog replacements, so yes i would go for that then (aftermarket should make just ball joints for the lowers, only thing is that they have to be pushed out with a press, so basically a shop needs to do the actual pressing part, unless of course you got access to a press though

as said honda likes assemblies, it be parts 1 and 2 for what you were qouted for

http://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/i...ration=KNUCKLE

even then it seems a bit overpriced though, but it is probably in moose's money though, so would have to convert it first

Read this man, I replaced my lower ball joints and like Fries said, Acura will try to sell you the entire knuckle but you don't need to do that. Go to autozone and pick up the lower ball joint then remove the knuckle and take it to a machine shop.

I don't know your level of car knowledge because this isn't the easiest job in the world. But the good thing is your lower ball joint is already destroyed so you don't have to worry about ruining it when you go to get the spindle off.

You can get them pressed out and pressed in, shouldn't have to pay for the whole piece, most shops will do it. Some just dont want to mess with pressing them when they can charge you for the whole deal

ok so just to confirm

All I need is the lower ball joint from moog, then the problem after that is getting it in?

if this is right I'm going to order it up and get a mechanic friend to help me out and do a video DIY on this

correct, and as said unless you got the correct tools, a shop will have to press it out, and press in the new one for you, but you can always remove the knuckle yourself though

biggest thing i would worry about though, is if they are siezed in there (since you are a moose lol) and it can't be pressed out, then you will have to buy a new knuckle then , but worth a shot at pressing them out though

but the ball joint housing may be rusted in there real good, like litially "welding" itself to the knuckle, so not so easily removed, but might just need some work though

Update: FIXED, so bought the ball joints and me and my buddy did all the labour. Getting everything out was easy, the only thing that could have been hard was the axle nut, but he brought his 900 foot pound air gun and it was like butter! Also he works at a shop so he pressed them in himself and that was it, reinstall was super easy and everything is great now.

However I think I will soon need new tie rods, both inner and outer so that kinda sucks but wont be that bad and will hopefully get that done within the month!
