Largest Tire Width

What is the largest tire width that would fit on a '01 CL with a 20" wheel diameter, that will not rub?

If you want them to be, lol. I didn't pay attention to that when I posted the thread. I guess it does make sense though that I am talking about "largest" tire width so why not use "large" font.

how wide is the rim?

that will determine how wide of tire you can run...

20" wheels

I have had like 10 sets all wheels on my cl from factory to 22" I think the best bet is 20*8 with a 235 35 20 tire for ride purposes. had 20*7.5 with a 225 30 20 didnt like the ride at all and left a fender gap but no rub.. had a set of 20*8.5 with a 245-35-20 rubbed a little a back (rolled fenders took care of that). and in reverse when turn all the way ( weird cause not when foward motion). can go on...... but the first option i think is the best for the ride with no rubbing. offset has a lot to do with it to id go 35/55 offset. But if your gonna go 8.5 woulnt go with a 30 series 235 35 30 or 225 35 20 again for ride. seen alot of people blow tires and rims from 225-30-20

235 is fine, 245 would be a little too beefy... depends on your actual wheel offset/width.
