Just put on some 19" wheels and I need help...

Well, I thought that you could fit 19" wheels on a 2001 Acura Cl-S, but I'm not so sure now. I put 19 X 8.5 ADR Chrome Sterlings (Offset 38) on my car. There is a pretty good wheel gap, but whenever I hit any sort of bump in the road, the rear tires jump and get scratched against the body. My tires are 2 weeks old, and one of the rears are flat. The shop put on some Toyo Proxes TS-1 245/40/19. I talked to Discount Tires and the guy there told me that they messed up and they should have put on 235/35/19 and if I had put those on I would not have had this type of problem. I don't know much about cars or tires. If any of you have 19" rims or know anything about this, please tell me what to do. Will 235/35/19s prevent the rubbing in the rear?

Thanks.

The wheels are too wide and the offset is too high. +45 is the safe point...and thats with 8" wide wheels!

Time and time again, we see this happening.

8.5 is too wide and the offset is way too low.

Your problem is not the tire, but the wheel width and the offset. You need to get new wheels.

looks like someone should have done research before spending 2 grand on wheels and tires. Sell them and get the right size, all you are looking fo is trouble. You may blow out a tire, damage the suspension etc.

An inch makes a world of difference....and I wouldn't roll the fenders because the paint will probably crack and peel.....then rust

GOOD NEWS...well, the shop realized they put on too large of tires...so they are putting on a brand new set of Toyo Proxes T1-S 235/35/19 for FREE...

i was going to go with 225/35/19s but I'm just afraid that there isn't enough rubber...i measured where the tire kept scratching and it's about an inch into the tire and these new tires will be 1.5 inches smaller in diameter...so these tires shouldn't tear up like the other ones...if I notice any type of rubbing, I'm ebaying these and going 18 X 8s...i'll let you know how it goes...

thanks for all the advice guys...i wish i asked u guys before i got into this mess...

When you look for rims...
19x8 (max)
45mm offset (min)
235/35/19 tires

You should have no problems at all with this setup.

And this story gets more interesting...

So I go to the shop to get my new tires...when I give the worker the flat tire, he notices that there is a NAIL in it...a huge nail that went all the way through the tire...I didn't bother checking the tire b/c I assumed it was flat b/c of the really bad rubbing...for some reason, the worker didn't mention it to the owner...he put on my wheels and i flew out of the shop...i don't know if it would have mattered b/c those tires would have been trashed soon...

the new tires seem to work fine...no rubbing what so ever... I hope that things will be ok...now, I'm going to go put a sub in my car...after i do some research of course...
