impact wrench size for tires

Questions for mechanics.........

Is a 5 hp 20 gallon air compressor (150 PSI max and 6.5 scfm@40 psi rating) with a 1/2 impact wrench suitable for removing the lugs for our tires?

If so, what is the size of the socket that I need for the lugs of our stock rims?

Thanks.

Don't use an impact wrench on lugs. You can strip the darn lugs if you're not careful. A torque wrench serves you much better and you'll know you're not over or under torquing the lugs.

Just my $0.02...

taking off only,, you still have to break loose the lugs before the airwrench will work,, for install,,, most impacts have a low torque range that can be used AFTER finger started,, torque them at 80 ft lbs. my compressor is similar to yours,, just be carefull,, trust me changing lugs is a major pain,, I have learned the hard way,,

That’s the size compressor I have, but like the others have suggested I don’t use it for my wheels.
I use a 1/2” Torque wrench set at 80 Lbs.

Yep, I learned the hard way and stripped one when using the improper tools ! It took 3 days to find the replacement part ! I've decided I'm not rotating the tires on my car ! Too much of a pain ! Esp. when I found out how badly with tires each needed alignment when I got new SO3's !!!!!! The car drove straigt as can be, but they were way off ! Each one for that matter !
