How much drop before alignment needed?

Just wondering as I'm likely going to be installing my Tein Basic coilovers tomorrow. I don't have rear camber kit yet, nor do I feel like forking out an extra bill for an alignment right now.

Is there a certain amount I can drop my car on the Tein's without affecting the camber?

Hate to say it, but plan on buying an Ingalls camber kit and install it before your alignment. Any drop will affect camber.

there's no set number, but when i put my tein basics on i had about a 1.5-2 finger gap and was barely in oem spec for camber. You'll need to at least get an alignment after you drop it.

Mine is lowered on Tein SS with no gap and haven't done an alignment it drives straight no pull to either side and no noticeable camber wear on tires mind you I only have about 3000km's on so far.

always get an alignment after a drop. you are changing the geometry of your suspension even with a 1 inch drop and much more so with a bigger drop. if you're worried about camber, install a camber kit with the new suspension then get the car aligned. otherwise you'll be eating up tires. your car may go straight, but any amount of toe going out of spec will wear your tires much quicker.

So today when I went to get 'em installed I opened a whole new can of worms. Everything down there was seized. Had to order new LCA bushings, bolts, even the front 2 forks. Acura dealership was closed so I gotta wait till morning to order the parts, drove up the cost like craaazyy.

I'm gonna get the Ingalls rear camber kit, then do the alignment...then rust proof. The CL loves taking a beating on my wallet.

if you can wait for the parts, it'll be cheaper to order from the states.

Yeah it's all good now, I contacted the TorontoJDM store who was selling the whole suspension unit for the TL. Just talked to them to sell me the front pair of strut forks for $50. Beats paying $80 a piece from the stealership.

Also got a chance to sneak preview my wheels to come..can't wait till spring time! (no pun intended)

sooo i finally got the tein basics in and i'm loving them. to put it in perspective, whoever previously owned the car had the front oem springs chopped! so my car had this weird face down/ass up look and the ride quality was shiiite. the car feels night and day difference.

also the alignment is still within spec, again probably because i was on chopped springs before so the front didn't actually drop any, only the rears did where i noticed a slight negative camber. not gonna bother with an alignment for now.
