Honda HFP VS MS3 Wheels

My friend totalled his EP3. So hes letting me keep the wheels if I want to, depending on what car he gets/if they will fit his new ride.

They are 17x7 +45

I like the color combo alot SSM/Carbon Bronze + stance is a little bit more flush.
Before (MS3)

Or after (HFP) Looks high, the jack is NOT lifting the car up. Some of it is probably due to the angle of my driveway, wanted to take some pictures of the other side but it got dark by the time I decided to put all 4 on and actually do it.

HFP, anything from a different manufacturer besides Honda and Acura looks odd on the CL.

I like the HFP too. Mainly for the color. Might have to do something about that honda badge on the rims though.

Whats the tire specs on those two sets?

I like the MS3 wheels to be honest. I really like the silver on silver look.

I also think it might just be the color that I like

The MS3s has 225/40/18 and the HFPs are 215/45/17. I would change them out to 235/40s but they are like new tires.

the rx8 wheels look good, what size tires do you have

HFP. I think they're forged.
I compared the weight of the two, MS3 ones actually felt lighter. Of course I could be wrong, I didnt use a scale

235/40/18 right now. I could run 225/45/18s too

The correct size is 235/45/17 for those HFPs.

The HFPs are sexy. Alittle too small IMO, but they are sexy.

Are the tires the correct size?

zac said it had 215/45/17 right now. Correct size is 235/45/17 or 215/50/17.

yea, they would be much better if they were 18s, but 17s are just fine

To me it's not about how the wheels look on their own, but rather the idea that a mada part is on an Acura, just feels a little awkward. I think a custom color would help mask the feeling that they came from Mazda.

Oops, I meant 235/45/17.

Wouldnt you run 225/40/18s vs the 225/40/18, it would be more accurate, although I dont know why you would want to decrease the contact patch anyway, unless your gonna lower it more.

As they are with the 215/45s the speedo is fast by 3.3%

I wanted to actually powdercoat the MS3 wheels that HFP color, but I dont think its worth it.

Drove to NYC last night for the Thom Yorke concert on the HFPs, I definately feel a difference between the 40 series on the MS3 wheels and the 45 on the HFPs, smoother ride.

For 18's compared to stock 215/50/17:

235/40/18: 0.2% too fast
225/40/18: 1.5% too fast
225/45/18: 2.0% too slow
215/45/18: 0.6% too slow

I'd rather have too slow then too fast so its 225/45/18 or 235/40/18 for me.
215/45/18 might be stretching the tire a little on a 8 inch wide rim.

Good point, I never thought of it like that.

These HFPs give me a case of the mod bug, they make me want to blackout my headlights, tint my tails, and go lower.

03 Tails would look nice, but I cant justify a purchase like that right now.

Just drove in the rain for the first time and it is a very big difference with the Potenza G 009 tires that are on the HFPs, so much more traction than the Kumho AST.
