help: Weight of Forged and Cast 18" rims

I would like to know the normal weight of 18" rim without tire. What is the different in weight between cast and forged rim? Please specify wheel brand, forged, cast and size. I just bought some forged 18x7.5 rims and am not impressed with its weight. I weight mine on an UPS weight scale and it came in at 17.6lbs each. What do you think? Thanks

That's a good weight imo. My Volks ( TE-37s ) are 18x7.5 and weigh a little over 16 pounds, way better than stock.

I alway wanted to know how much a 18x7.5 volk TE-37 weigh. I am feeling better now, since I found out that TE-37 weight 16lbs.

17.6 lbs is real light for an 18 inch rim. What kind did you get?

that sounds right. my volk 57pro 2 piece 17x7" weigh about 16lbs so ur 18x8 only weighing another 1.5lbs seems right. they are nto going to get much lighter unless they were 3 piece or magnesium!

if they are a stright track rim then light is great. but for the street, light and strong don't go hand in hand. Even if they are forged, The CLS is relatively heavy. So you hit a bad pothole with a light, 18" wheel with little tire to protect it......

I know little miatas are bending SSR comps on the track. I'm not talking about big ones either. I'm talking 15" comps.

Don't get me wrong, light is great for performance, but in the end you want the best comprimise of both worlds for a street wheel. 17 is damn light for an 18" I wouldn't want to go lighter than that. Stock 17" S4 wheels are 28 lbs and those cars are still fast.

Enjoy the wheels.

Yeah, I was about to tell VXCL that 3 piece wheel are not the lightest. I had the same concept about 3 piece wheel until I bought a set of Japanese made SPOKES 3 piece wheel. They were not very heavy, but they are definitely not light.
