Help w/ Lowering CL
Help w/ Lowering CL
I want to lower my car. What all do I need (parts and brands) and how much should I be looking to spend? Some shop here in Sac quoted me like $550 for lowering it w/ eibach springs. He said they are they best springs, and that the most they'd be able to drop it was 1 inch.
Any help will be appreciated.

Eibach pro-kits drop it about 1.75" and can be bought for about $230 or so. An extra $300 for install is pretty steep. H&R's can be bought for $130 and are just as quality as the Eibach's, and while you're at it get some struts. Pay a little more now or alot later. Call around for prices too, most places are closer to $225 for install.
What Shocks & Struts Do
Shock absorbers and struts do more than just provide a comfortable ride. Their most important function is to influence the control and handling characteristics of your vehicle. Without them, a vehicle would continually bounce and bound down the road, making driving extremely difficult. Shocks and struts are designed to help keep your tires on the road. They control the action of the spring to resist bottoming out . . . like when you hit a pothole . . . and keep the movement of the springs under control when they rebound.
How Shocks & Struts Work
According to the experts at Gabriel Ride Control, shocks provide resistance by forcing hydraulic fluid (oil) through valves in the piston as it moves up and down. Because the oil cannot be compressed, only a certain amount of fluid can be forced through these valves, which creates resistance to the vehicle movement. Premium shocks and struts are superior to regular hydraulic shocks because air in the shock is replaced by pressurized nitrogen gas. This advancement in technology prevents bubbles from forming in the hydraulic fluid. These bubbles, called foaming, reduces the ability of shocks to provide resistance and prevent bounce. Gas shocks also quicken the response of a shock's movement thereby increasing comfort and control under all conditions.
and Koni and Tokico are the usual favorite for struts. I have tokico hp... I'm very happy with them. they are cheap too ($270 shipped off ebay)

tokico is the brand of struts.
you do not need a camber kit if you use comptech springs. they don't lower it enough to make a kit necessary. with some of the other springs you would need a camber kit though.
check out www.c-c-c.net, they have a good selection of products for the CL

got my H&R sports for $110 brand new. car still rides really great
eibach's are a little stiff for my taste
paid $120 for the install at a local shop and another $50 for the alignment
so i dropped my car for about $300 but i have some serious camber issues now
don't know what to do about that, i've gotten some ridiculous quotes on a camber kit and don't think that will totally fix the problem
