damage due to road construction
damage due to road construction
Nov. 13 I was going to the New Engalnd Auto Show traveling south in the SE Expressway. Between Mass Ave. and JFK there was a transition area, going from an old surface to a new much higher surface - basically a wall of asphalt. The car crashed over the section appearing to have bottomed out the suspension travel.
Now my car shakes. Going to dealer Friday. I'm pissed.

They will look it over, however I'd be shocked if they cover anything. It's not a defect, & you have lowering springs.
You should get a police report. Take pics of that area, pics of your car & a report from the dealer on what needs to be fixed. Then contact your local city & find out who is responsable for the construction & get their insurance to cover it.
You need the police report, without that you have no case. I have done this before.

Not sure I follow you "It's not a defect"?
I talked to the Mass Highway Authority yesterday. They confirmed construction work was being done and connected me to the claims area. If there is damage I can submit a claim.

Dealer said car was ok. Checked out the rims and balanced the tires. Car rides smoothly again. I may have been just paranoid that I damaged something.
The dealer did a road force measurement of all of the tires. Two are 3 lbs., one is 6 lbs. and one is 20 lbs. Folks at Michelin said they don't have tolerance ranges for road force but said it is helpful when mounting tires to offset the high point of the tire and the high point of the rim.
I was hoping the dealer was going to break down the tires and rims and offset the high and low points, but they didn't. I guess if they can easily balance them they don't bother.
Anyway, I'm happy I do not have to repair rims.
