CLS6 On FF1 Problem

I recently lowered my CLS6 on Function Form type 1's and I have a bit of an issue. The car is lowered ~2" in front and rear, and since lowering I have a shimmy on acceleration. Between about 25mph and 40mph the whole car shakes a bit, steering wheel included. Happens on hard or just slight acceleration, and never when I'm off the throttle.

Anyone had this before, or have any ideas of what it might be, before I take it into a shop?

Thanks in advance

Im not saying this is the problem because I don't know but here is my. When I lowered my car and got my new wheels and tires put on my steering wheel and front end was shaking bad under acceleration. I found out the only problem was that The people that put my wheels on didn' balance them right. Im guessing you may need and alignment or re-balance

I would have to agree with Brandon I dropped a weight off one of my wheels about a month ago and it felt like I had bent a rim. Quick re-balance fixed the problem and if you did not get an alignment you need one .

Great, thanks for the responses guys. I'll bring it in for an alignment, and hopefully that rectifies the issue. Assumed I might not need one because the car's tracking perfectly, but there's no harm in giving it a shot.

Alright, I've taken it in for alignment (it's within spec, or JUST outside). Wheels are also balanced, and I've tried it with two different setups (summer wheels/tires as well as winter wheels/tires).

The shimmy under accel is still there. It's not getting any worse, but I still am not pumped about it. The only thing I can think that would cause this would be something with the axles/CVs that is only noticeable now that it's lowered...

Any other suggestions!?

i do believe that once you're lowered there is a little added stress on the axles, so this might have amplified a bad one. Are there any rips in the CV boots you can see?

^Thanks for the response. CV's are in perfect shape, I check them relatively often (every oil change/tire swap).

Assuming it's the axles (process of elimination), I'm just going to leave it for now I think. It's not like I'm tracking my car and for DD'ing it's a little annoying but not a huge safety concern.

Had a chance to look at the motor mounts before I left for Christmas. They look good.

I have the same exact issue with my car after lowering 2.5" - after raising it 3/8", the shimmy went down quite a bit.

I'm betting the motor mounts or axles are getting tired.

Yeah I initially had it lowered like 3", and raised it quite a bit. It helped, but the shimmy is still there.

Right now I'm just going to concentrate on getting FF to warranty one or two of the shocks, they are clunking like crazy - I think they've leaked.

I'm having a similar issue. Mine really shakes around 55 to 60 MPH. I had the front lowered about 1.5 but when I busted a spring it dropped and that's when it really started to get worse. I'm about to redo the whole front suspension and see if that fixes it.
