Advice on camber kits

Hi Guys,

I just put on my BBS RK 18x7.5's on Potenza S03 225/45/18. They were rubbing on sharp turns and big bumps since i'm lowered on tokico illumina + H&R Sports. I had the stiffness adjusted to 3 in the front 4 in the back. Now i'm on 2/2 and the rub is minmal. I don't want to put it on 1/1 but I will if I have to... OK now the real question. I took my car to sears since I had a free alignment, here are my numbers:

Camber/Toe

Rear Left: -1.8/0.11
Read Right: -1.0/0.07
Front Left: 0.8/0.00
Front Left Caster:2.5
Front Right: -1.0/0.03
Front Right Caster: 0.8

So, I am sure I need a Camber kit for the rear. -1.8 degrees off will surely cause problems such as excessive tire wear. What i'm not sure is whether or not I should add front camber kits. This is because I have been told that if I add front camber kits, I will probably need a new front lower controller arm as well. Is -1.0 camber and 0.8 caster anything to be worried about? As far as I can tell, the car doesn't pull left or right at all.

I'll post a pic after washing the car if you guys would like. I think it looks awesome but we've seen it all before. My goal was to replace the scratched up stock rims with something was lighter and attractive, but didn't stand out too much.

Thanks in advance!

im glad to hear the alignment was FREE, otherwise that would have been wasted money. anytime you lower a car you are going to need a camber kit. on the ingalls and SPC sites they have the camber kits and what degree they will adjust to. that should be all the info you need. are 225/45 the usual size for 18 inch tire for cl? have you rolled your fenders?

Not sure about the 225/45 being the usual size on 18's, but I'm on 225/40's & not encountering too much problems. Unless the bumps are big, only rubbing I've experienced are very minimal (slight chirp) & that's w/ 2 adults in the rear. Also, I'm using Tein S Tech with Tokico Hp's. Haven't needed the camber kit, but will most likely get them (Excelerate aka Josh) recommends the Ingalls ones for their adjustment over the SPC's (which he both sells as one of the vendors).

not sure what your trying to say but im about to buy 7.5 wide with 42 offset wheels, ronjon- whos wheels are spec'd for our vehicles, have the same exact outer position on the Legends. i wouldnt go any under 42, which totally sucks- there is some bad ass wheels with mid 30s offset but i despise wheels that stick out of the fenders

you don't think that the offset is wrong, because you have rj's with the same offset and width. as you said, rj's are spec'd for our cars, bbs's are not. a check to the bbs website tells one that the rk wheels are" a tuner fitment", meaning that they will increase the track of the tire/wheel out of the edge of the fender. it further states that a fender roll may be required for proper fitment. therefore the lower the car, the greater the chances of rubbing the tire/wheel.

sorry that i beat around the point. camber kit aside, there are hundreds of threads on this site stressing the importance of having the proper/fool proof offset. unless you want to go through the process of rolling your fender etc., you should try to get a wheel with an offset as close to stock as you can. that is, if you are going to modify your suspension. you can't automatically rule out the offset because like i said, the tires are on the wheels. although we all have the same car, each one is still different.

Truth be told, I got excited and did not compensate for offset before I ordered the wheels... I will have to roll the fenders when I get home. Happy Turkey day!
