235/45/17 General Exclaim UHP - will they fit?

Price: 76$ each

I'm about to buy this set of tires for the car, even though it is for sale, because the tread left on both my summer and winter tires is terrible.

Will they fit on the stock 2003 CLS-6 rim? I just want to make sure that I can put 235/45/17 tires on my car before I go ahead and buy them!

I've been reading some reviews and they seem great - feel free to share if you have them on your car.

BTW -> I don't care about their poor snow abilities. I am selling my car with a set of dedicated 16" winter rims/tires.

Just to clarify the reason for my question: I know in general 235/45/17 tires fit on our cars, but I'm worried about the TireRack recommendation of a minimum 7.5" rim (our rims are only 7").

I have these exact tires, siza and all. I absolutely love them. Excelent choice! I don't think you could do much better for summer tire on a daily driver. I have even used them in the rain and snow and even in the snow they are great. I think they look great too BTW.

They will fit fine. I run that size on my car. Word of caution. Don't tell tire rack what car they are going on. Say something like a project car. Make up something. They have been know to not sell size's their PC tells them doesn't fit.
They may reject your order.

I'm considering purchasing a set of these. Does any one have pictures of the 235 45 17 mounted on a stock rim. A side and rear view of the car would be nice. Also, since this is not the recommended tire size for our cars does that void the warranty on the tires in any way. Thanks

I have these tires in that size. Search the forum for my review of them.

I have pics of that size in the link of my sig. They are not the general's but they are that size.

These are great for their price and longevity...had my last ones on for at least 30k miles. The sidewalls are as soft as butter though. If you ever drive hard in corners, you'll feel it flexing.

Yeah, they squeal on me if I'm hard into a turn. But they still grip. I've taken some turns at very high rates of speed(ie-normal people should not do) & the tires were sounding like a pig but I was able to power through the turns.

How are these tires as far as noise is concerned? I checked on Tire Rack and read both positive and negative reviews regarding noise.

No complainants here. But only 2K miles on them. I'm sure they are like all summer tires & will get noisy as they wear down.

I've found running them 3-4 psi higher than stock (especially up front) helps quite a bit with this.

I can always tell when I need more air up front, because turn-in really suffers (and all the sqealing). I'm surprised how sensitive these tires are to pressure.

great grip and longevity, though.

I just ordered 235/45/17 Sumitomo HTRZIIs for $81 a piece. Tire rack questioned me about them fitting, I just told the guy that is what is currently on there. Took them awhile to verify it tho. Blah.

Thought I'd update this thread.
I have been experimenting with tire pressure for these tires. I have found that on stock rims a PSI of 38 cold is just about right. This almost eliminates all tire squeal around sharp turns. It also even's out the tire contact patch & makes these less prone to flat spotting after sitting overnight.

I recommend anyone running these to play with the pressure.
