Hey folks

I own a set of 18's wrapped in 225/45/18 (Nankang NSII tires) I offcourse took them off for the winter and now that its time for warm weather I am about to put the rims back on. However since winter, I have had the "Eibach Prokit springs" installed which has lowered the car a little lower than I expected but anyway I am nervous that may wheels may now rub at times (but not sure.

Before I go through the hassle of having the rims put back on the car balanced and get an alignment I just thought I'd ask#1 if the 225/45/18 will likely rub with 45 offset (rim). #2 If it rubs how much damage is done to the car suspension or tires #3 Should I skip everything and just go for the a set of 225/40/18's instead of the 225/45/18 although I prefer the added protection of the 225/45's when it comes to bumps and potholes

Any thoughts are appreciated before I waste good time and/or money!!

depends on your rims width and offset

I put the offset in the original thread...the width of the rim is 7.5 (18 x 7.5) offset is +45

I am really wanting to hear from someone who has used or is currently using the same setup with identical measurements (or atleast pretty damn close)

I ran the same size tires with a 48 offset on the rims and a 1.8 drop and it never rubbed not even close to rubbing. I agree protection wise its better to run the 225/45/18's because with that size I never bent a rim but with 225/40/18's I bent several rims.

Thanks guys I am feeling betta now. I think imma go ahead and stick with that (225/45/18) size tire since it hasnt rubbed with others.

you won't rub. the pro-kit is a pretty conservative drop

I would go 225/40/18 personally....

I run 235/45/17 with 8 inch wheel, +45 and no rub with the Eibach pro-kit....after an alignment. It comes very close to rubbing but barely makes it.

bUT you are running a wider rim 8 in. VS 7.5in..and u are also running a 235 width tire vs. the 225 tire that i am asking about so maybe i have a chance afterall..especially since other said they have madeit..although i don't know for sure

i have 225/40/18 nankang ns-2's on an 18X7.5 rim, with eibach pro kit and tokico blues, still about 2 finger gap all around, i highly doubt u'll rub with the 45's

I'd say put the wheels on yourself, and see if you rub. If so, take em off and do what you gotta do, if not, go get your balanced/aligned, though if you already are aligned and the wheels were balanced when you took em off i don't think it's necessary. I could be wrong, but i dont think putting on new wheels changes alignment.

No it doesn't but i am in need of an alignment period...before and after the wheels were taken off... so i have to get one before i put new tires on..Or I will wear those out badly.

I'd still say slap those wheels on yourself and see what happens, then go from there.

Oh yeah Imma put them on myself; just so i can drive to the wheel/tire spot and have them put new tires on because i aint gonna be lugging 4 wheels (the stock wheels) to and from. Hell naw...but we shall see what happens I'm hopin all goes well because I am telliin U guys...that even though its only the Prokit drop (conservative drop) that car is sittin pretty low. I wanna be able to have passengers in the back of the car ( or stuff in my trunk) and not have to worry about that bytch rubbin on dips and humps. But I ain't gonna stress over it whateva will be will be..I just don't want to get any skinny as tires but imma do whateve a I gotta do! Thanks for everyone's input and comment regarding this matter.

they will protect more and they probably won't rub, depending on our drop and trunk load, buuuut, they will look less aggressive, more like 17" since the tires are so inflated.
235/40/18 is great on a 7.5" ewidth, it gives a nice vertical sidewall for pretection and actually matches the stock 215/50/17 overall height best.

Throw a system in the trunk and suddenly it's not such a conservative drop...then again I like to thump harder than most, my shit is heavy.

Yeah I know a couple folks who's shyt sags due to heavy thumpage in the trunk; I have a lil sumthing but I don't think it causes any azz sagging..lol

So do you guys think that 18X7.5 +42 with 235/40/18's would be fine as well on an Eibach drop?

I would say yes...especially with the tire's sidewall being a forty just watch those bumps and potholes!! Rondog just mentioned in a previous post that he uses that size (oh wait... not sure if he has that offset with his wheel though).

Probably will be fine, but every car is a tiny bit different....I still don't get why you are set on the 235....a 7.5" wheel with a 225 would be perfect.

Mostly b/c it is the most similar in size/height to stock 215/50/17, but why not have a slightly wider tire that fits fine?
