Cool wiper motor

I have a 01 cl type s and was wondering about aa problem I have with my wiper motor, with the wipers off I can grab the blade and move it about 2 to 3 inches back and forth. When I first bought it I thought they had put a new windshield in it and didnt have the wiper set right and after moving it it wenr off the windshield.Does that mean the motor is bad I have never seen one with that much play in it,and how hard is it to change if it is?Is it done under the dash or can it be changed under the hood,.Has anyone done one latley what is the price of a new one? Thanks Steve

There are plastic bushings on the wiper arm (the one in the cowl, not the two on the windshield) that tend to wear out. Thats probably your problem. Remove the cowl plastic, and move the wipers and look for excess movement.

Hey Steve,

There may be after market options available but the part is so inexpensive that I don't really see the merit of going down that route when you can buy the OEM part for essentially the same price. If I remember correctly, the part is called the link assembly (OEM part # 76520-S84-A01 and is priced at about $10.

Isn't it refreshing when a fix turns out to be so easy and cheap?

the part # above is for the arm that mounts to the motor, the one that was worn on mine is #76540-SOK-AO1 it is the complete arm with bushings that cannot be repaced you have to buy the whole arm, that fixed my problem.I hope this will help anyone with this problem.
Thanks Steve
