Where to find an obsolete part
Where to find an obsolete part
Hi - I have a 1999 CL 3.0 and was told by my mechanic that I need a Blend Door Actuator (heater is not working), but the part is obsolete. We did an internet search on the Denso and dealer part numbers, and I'm searching now for local Acura/Honda mechanics for help. Any suggestions here where I can look to purchase this part? Thanks in advance.

Is it #7 or #8 on the diagram below?
If either, please provide the part# in your post.
Part Update
As a quick update to this post, the Dorman part was, unfortunately, not the correct part, but I did find the part needed on Rockauto--one left, thankfully.
It is made by Four Seasons, part #73646, for anyone who is searching for this heater air door actuator for 1997-99 CL.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I can't find a comparable part. It is located under neath the passenger side dash near the middle. It controls the temperature blend for hot/cold. I bought the part for the other side and was hoping it was the same part or at least shared the same motor where I could replace internal parts resoldering them, but alas it was not the same different motor, different board and different female plug.
Can not find a comparable part either. Any help would be appreciated. I have a 1993 Acura CL 3.0 automatic.
I am actually looking for #8 in your picture which is dealer 79160-SV4-A41

Obsolete parts are a PIA.
With that said, compare & contrast your malfunctioning 79160-SV4-A41 part characteristics to any one of the three low cost 79160-SDA-A41's below on RockAuto.com.
The part number prefix '79160' and the suffix 'A41' are the same, the only thing different is the 'root' 'SDA'.
According to the website below 'Decoding Honda & Acura part numbers', the root '...tells what kind of car it fits, or the first car it fit when originally created, in the case of parts that fit multiple cars.'
Therefore, as an example, in the parts listed below 'SDA' equates to 2003-07 Honda Accords versus 'SV4' equates to 1997-99 Acura CL's.
Decoding Honda and Acura part numbers - Ultra Racing USA, LLC - Chassis Tuning Specialist Since 2001
Best case scenario is all part characteristics are the same and one from the 'Accord' below will plug & play to your 99 CL 3.0.
At worst, maybe there will be enough similarities internally to rebuild your current 79160-SV4-A41??

Furthermore, keep in mind that there are many model variation examples of 79160-XXX-A41 out there, make sure to compare all their characteristics to help narrow one down before pulling the trigger.
The only other alternative would be to find a 97-99 CL, V6 or 4 cylinder, at a local salvage yard (car-part.com) and 'roll the dice' there?
