When I was getting gas last week I hit the trunk release on accident instead of pulling the gas door release.

So I went to shut my trunk and THUD, THUD, THUD....

Will not latch for some reason.

This problem has happened a few times before within the last 3 months or so, but I was able to get it shut within a couple mins of poking around and quite literally slamming the trunk til it shut.

This last time I spent a good 5 mins at the gas station, and 45 mins the next day trying to shut it to no avail.

Right now it's being held closed by a bungie cord attached just above the safety release inside the trunk and hooked to the trunk passage inside the cabin.

Any known problems or fixes for this? Replacement, repair, cost, etc???

 

Might need a new latch. Its mounted on the trunk lid under the cover. IIRC there are 3 or 4 bolts holding it to the lid.
