timing belt changed/ now making noise

Hello. I have an 01 CL/S
had a new timing belt put on today, along with water pump. Car has 180K so it was waaaay overdue. The shop told me that the tensioner was fine and didn't need replacing. When I picked it up a couple hours ago,it was making some power steering whine noises, and the guy said that it was some air in line and would go away with a little driving. Trip home is 12 miles, and noise is still there. There is also a ticking now that wasn't there this morning. Not sure what or why that showed up. I know I'll have to take it back, but wondering if anyone knows what the ticking owuld be from? I wouldn't think they had to take the exhaust off to do the belt? Any suggestions/input would be appreciated. JoeC

did you have valves adjusted recently? adjusting valves with a worn belt may be causing your noise.

Also it is recommended that you replace your tensioners with the belt (T-belt and serpentine belt)

Hi Rob, no work done on engine for some time til yesterday with the timing belt. The mechanic said he'd replace tensioner if it was needed (leaking? ) I was thinking I should have it one anyway, but when I picked up car, he said it wasn't bad so he left it alone.?

My rule of thumb is when you go deep into a project, replace everything there that may need replaced, so you don't have to go back later. If you didn't have those noises before, I would definitely take the car back to whoever worked on it.
