Ticking/grinding sound from passenger side

Just thought I'd post this... idling with defrost on i hear a ticking/grinding sound!! drives me nuts and also hear it when I barely rev past 1000rpms finally figured it out ITS THE IDLER PULLEY!! I always thought that is was the torque converter, and I also remember reading that someone else was having the same issue. So i decided to post.

Cheers

Do u have a aftermarket pulley?
I have a option underdrive pulley and i get some screeching noises also comming from there intermitintly, is that gonna harm the engine in the long run or just make noise?

I replaced the underdrive pulley and belt, noise went away for a bit... so now I purchased the auto tensioner itself and it comes with the pulley, from del-ray... So all in all it is most likely your tensioner on your car, Don't think its an immediate fix but you should fix it... part is $68 and takes half hour to replace, not hard at all.
