What a pisser! I took my CLS into the Acura dealer in Sunnyvale to have my 52K check up and as an aside, I asked them to check the tranny just in case. Well, wouldn't you know it, it's shot. So now I am having the transmission changed for the second time! I am absolutely at a loss as to whether I will keep the damn car now or not. What about resale value with all these failures? Not to mention the hassle!

What I want to know is, has anyone gotten the straight scoop on why the tranny's fail? How many have you had replaced? What mileage were you at? Did you just give up and sell the sucker in the end?

On a positive note, at least the dealership was cool and gave me an '05 TL to run around in this week. Which I am seriously considering buying.

Did your car's (second) tranny have any evident problems?

I wonder if some dealers are "churning" Acura on this, replacing transmissions that really don't need it, to make a buck.

P.S. My 01 Type S with 35K miles is getting a new transmission even as we speak. But it needed it, as it had started to malfunction.
