Tape constantly ejecting

I have one of those tapes that plugs into my iPod. Well every 5 minutes the tape player ejects the tape. I have tried buying a new tape adapter for the iPod and have cleaned the tape player with a cleaning tape but nothing seems to work!

Have you guys heard of this problem? What can I do to fix it?

Thanks,
Casey

Odd. I use a cassette adapter with my ZenXtra and have never had that happen.

Never happens to mine either. Although when the music stops, and the tape is still playing my little cassette adapter thing makes a stupid clicking sound.

My friend has a 4runner, and uses the tape adapter for XM. I rode with him, and found the clicking annoying. I'm planning on taking his deck apart, and taking the casette drive belt off, he only uses the tape for XM, so no real loss, and it will make the cliking stop.

I think mine is an RCA (bought at BestBuy for $14.99). The clicking can't be heard when anything is playing. During the silence between tracks it's barely audible, and even then only if you're really listening for it. The "clicking" is the contact in the adapter moving back and forth. It puts a slight pressure on the tape head to maintain contact.

For 03_CLS_6sp; if you remove the casette drive belt the clicking will stop, but the adapter may stop working as well.

Yeah the clicking in my 01 CL is loud. So are you guys saying there is a way to take apart my tape player? Can I take it apart and adjust the drive belt. I really want to fix this soon because I'm driving 10 hours to San Antonio in a couple of weeks and I need my iPod to work!!

I had this problem when it was really hot outside over the summer and i kept the tape in the tape player during the day. Then it started getting worse so i got a new tape adapter and the problem went away.. dont know what to say in your situation because you have already tried a new tape adaptor

Just a note on that.. The iTrip sux do not waste your money on it.. Monster Cable has a nice one out thats wired, charges the ipod as its playing and also great fm modulator..

Yeah my wife has the iTrip and the sound quality through it sucks. Maybe I should just try the one from Monster. It would be nice to have a charger. I've tried everything trying to fix my tape player and just about ready to give up.

Personally, it is IMHO, that iPod's don't sound good in a car period. Helluva convenience though.
