my car 2002 tl type s roughly 240K
Here is the deal. I have not used my sunroof for a year or so, today for some reason I wanted to have my sunroof open.....
The tilt worked no problem, when I tired to open the sunroof it was opening really slow, I thought It got rusted or something and that it will get better. It did not. Once opened the sunroof does not close. It will move for about 10-15cm and then stop. I tried putting wd40 on it, no luck. I figured I would do it manually with the crank in the liner. It would move the same distance and stop. I was stupid enough to push it harder and glazed the bolt. I think that it did not completely return from the tilted position and somehow got stuck when opened fully. Anyone had similar problem ??

lubricate the rails and then open close a few times, problem solved

 

I did lubricate it and after a day by pressing open close 20 or 30 times it finally closed. Thanks for replying !
