Spark plug question?

Hello.

How to know whether the spark plugs are good or not? There is any issue which I've found so far. I got this CL on the last month and can't not remember the previous owner replaced the plugs or not. Here is a picture. Can you guys say something?

Thanks.

I would use OEM spark plugs for our cars. This way you know that your plugs are good for another 105k. They are called NGK Lazer Iridiums. let me know if you need the part number.

You might change them, but NGK's last forever, 100k 250k whatever mileage you pick. I got my Acura Legend running original plugs that are just perfect! ... 18 years and 260k miles!

i would change them. just because they work, doesnt mean they work at max performance. a new plug yields more power and better MPGs

Spark plugs construction is as simple as a broom stick. The only factors that affects performance is internal resistance and physical condition of terminals. Quality and craftsmanship of NGKs is superb and resistance is never affected - terminals may sometimes get burned but that still happens because of other engine issues. Simple fine sandblasting for the tips will make em brand spanking new with no reason of buying new ones!

so you've taken your plugs out of the legend and inspected them?

if you say so. id rather pay the extra 45 for piece of mind. i mean it would only need to be done every 105k.

Cheaper to just replace the set for for $40 if you go throught the trouble of taking them out. Most people don't have the necessary equipment to check spark plugs. In aircraft, where a plug can cost $50 each, they all get cleaned, gapped, and tested in a spark plug testing machine that induces a high voltage to test it.

The NKG's that I replaced at 116k miles in my CL looked great, but I prefer to run Bosch's in my vehicles. I went with the Bosch IR+4.
