Rpm loss
Hello, I'm kind of new to the threads here, I have an automatic '03 CLS and have had it for about a year and a half now. Every once in a while my rpm meter will lower slightly and will get a loss in excelleration, when will go back to normal after a second. This usually happens when i'm driving at a speed of +/-40mph. Does anyone know what may cause something like this?
I'm not 100% sure of this but you may have gotten into 5th gear (which engages at 47+) and then slowed down while still in 5th gear to your +/- 40 and you might have feathered the gas enough so that it stays in 5th gear instead of where it normally would have down shitfing to 4th causing it to bog down temporarily till it drops down to 4th
I hope you understand what I'm trying to say, maybe someone else could explain this more correctly.

I think I am having the same issue with my 2003 CLS, Have you found what the problem was? Mine does this first thing in the morning as I am getting on the highway as I approach 40 the rpm's will drop in a blink of an eye than briefly jerk, jolt and return to normal and it only does this once and that's it, on the ride home it will be fine, Somedays it does it and some days it doesn't? Somedays it's really noticeable and other days I can barely feel it? I think we are having the same problem here..
This is normal. My 02 auto did it & every TL I ever drove. No one knows for sure what it is. Suggestions have been the AC clutch kicking in & out, some kind of sudden electric load that causes the rpm drop, TQ converter lock up, etc.
