Rearview Mirror Tint Decaying.

I have a 2001 Acura CL-S. I noticed the other day that the tint or whatever it's called on my rearview mirror seems like its coming off. Most of its still tinted but a 1/4 of it is gone. Any ideas on fixes or if its supposed to do this?

does it look liquid bubble has formed? if so the mirror is leaking internally, you should replace it ASAP because if it were to leak outside the rear view mirror housing it will melt the plastic and stain your dash. I've seen a couple of members who's mirror leaked and destroyed their interior. My mirror started to leak internally and I replaced it asap with a new mirror, I didn't want my interior to get stained.

I can take a picture later on. But there is no bubble at all. The bottom half is still tinted as I said, the only thing I notice on the part thats not tinted is that there is like a brown smudge on the mirror that wont rub off.

Looks like I will have to replace it. Don't really want to spend the $100 though...

You said it will leak on dash and stain? So, I assume I can't wait a couple weeks to buy one?

you can also pick one up from acuraautomotiveparts.org ... i normally buy my parts thru them....prices are decent compared to local dealers here....i normally order a few things at a time rather than just 1 part to save on shipping

I would not wait. If anything, you can uninstall it and drive without a rearview mirror. That what I did for about 2 weeks. I would message AckTL05, who is a member on here. He works for a Acura dealership in New York I believe. I bought several parts through him. Usually the best deal for oem parts. They ship them to you. here is his thread on buying oem parts. https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/group-buy-anything-oem-796482/

Dimming liquid is about to leak out. Its junk ... or if you want to lose dimming feature you may separate mirror glass and remove liquid.

If you *must* wait, I would at least put down a towel over your dash/navi/radio to prevent damage.

how easy or difficult is this? I find with my car tinted it didn't work that well anyway and mine is starting to look like the one pictured.

thanks!
