Radio goes into Code Mode Randomly

Every now and then the factory radio in my 2003 CL Type S goes into Code mode Randomly. I have to input the code each time. The dealer said it might be the battery and they tested it and found that it failed the load test. So I took it in the shorts and paid the 90 bucks for a new Acura battery installed. The problem still persisted. All connections are on the battery are good and tight, and the plugs behind the radio are good and tight. As soon as I input the code the radio works normal and it isn't as though it looses power. It is more of a nuise then anything, but wanted to see if anyone else out there has a similar problem.

I feel your pain

My 2003 CL-S has just developed the same problem. The day after I had my headers and RT catback installed I caught a radio code. I plugged in my 5 security digits and the code cleared. It returned in a week so I cleared it again. Now it seems to happen almost every day. Anyone have a solution? Thanks!

Thanks fuzzy! I will check the battery cables. Could you please clarify what you mean by "connections to the ground" I apologize ahead of time if this is a really stupid question...

Mine did that too except it would not accept the code until I pulled the fuse. Very irritating. I solved it by replacing the radio.

your grounds, if you look under the hood you'll see a bunch of wires mounted to the frame/body. check all those and check the ones behind the radio.... my CL was doing that when i first bought her. almost bought a new radio, but checked the grounds and one was very loose. I'm not to keen now how aftermarket decks look unless its a nice double din, so it saved me a headache and some cash. let me know if u need help finding the wires.

My replacement HU is wired into the stock wiringharness and the issue has not recurred. I am very pleased with the way it came out.

Thanx!

I really appreciate the guidance that I received concerning this issue. I checked all of my wiring, including the grounds, and everything was secure. So, I just replaced the stock battery with a new Optima Red Top (34-78) and problem solved!
