Exclamation Question about car problem

The other day I went and started my car up and it turned over fine, but within a few seconds it just died out. So I turned it over again, started up and after a few seconds died out. Finally, I turned it over again and rev-ed it up and quickly put it into drive and it drove fine. Does any have any idea what this could be? Possibly a bad battery? Alternator? Spark plugs? Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

Could be anything

Bad gas
Dirty air filter
sticky throttle cable

Is it idling low the entire time?
It's more than likely not the battery since you can start it each time
Did you get a check engine light?

It may also be a faulty sensor.

Sounds like bad gas of a faulty fuel pump to me.

idling at 500 RPM? I know my CL-S idles at about 750... I really dunno if that would be the problem, though...
