passenger seat
This happened to my drivers seat, I tried to fix it and bought a new reclining motor from Delray Acura for around $105 shipped and installed it and it still didn't budge.
I noticed the exposed area when the motor is removed is a gear that seemed to be jammed/stuck. I took a screw driver and pushed on the teeth to see if it would move and it wouldn't I then hit the back of the screw driver with a hammer and banged the gear to see if it would loosen up. It did but since I was unsure about removing the seat entirely and disconnecting the air bag I didn't go further as I thought the whole assembly would need to be removed and checked and greased as it may be seized but that would mean the seat needs to come out and disassembled.
So far My seat does move but does not move as far back / forward as its supposed to probably only have about a 1/4 movement both directions of the supposed operating specs but its enough for me to wait for a warmer day to really get in there and find the cause.
To access the area you will need a 14mm socket and rachet, phillips screw driver or hand drill.
Removed the 2 front bolts of the seat and then removed the two black plastic covers for the bolts and remove those rear bolts so the seat can be moved around to get to the reclining motor/mechanism.
The cover with the switches has two black circle patches on both ends that need to be popped out to reveal screws remove the screws the the cover will come off.
You will see a cloth cover the area where the motor is, detach the cloth to expose the motor and three screws holding it down.
Remove the motor and test it off the seat. but pressing the switch and you will see the gear rotate counter or clockwise, that indicates the motor still functions. Then try to move the gear by pushing the teeth on the gear if it doesn't budge give it a couple of taps with the hammer if that doesn't work then you will have to take the seat apart and see if you can clean it and grease it back up cause the replacement for that part cost $500+
Hope this helps!

That method you tired DC2 & CL-S is actually the wright way i had the same exact problem i even when out and bought another seat but what really need was to beat the gears with the hammer a little bit more harder it would have save me the money i spent on the seat. It works beat the gears with hammer and screwdriver till the back of the chair starts to recline and make sure put some grease on them.
The way I fixed my seat was I just sat in it and while holding the switch to recline I used force and rocked back and forth until the seat started to move again....took about 7 seconds before it started to work again
Thats funny too see the same problem. My passenger seat is also not reclining and it is stuck in a forward uncomfortable position. Im going to try seymore's method first before i take apart the seat.
You can do what Seymore did or do it the hard way like I did for my drivers seat. I took the plastic covers off and turned the gears with a screw driver. Then I regreased everything. Good as new. I suggest you regrease the gears BTW.
