Oil leak while parking backwards up driveway
I was wondering what this might be. i never see any leaks but i parked backwards up my driveway today, and it has an incline. well i saw a small spot under the front of the car and i was curious of what it might be. I figure it might be front of the oil pan? please help me. And also is this hard to do?

well i got under it and it seems to be where the oil pan joins (the motor?) any way there are 3 verticle seals and two are leaky...anyone attempted this one? im downloading a manual as we speak so maybe i can tackle it..

We actually don't have an oil pan gasket. With the aluminum pans you just use some Honda sealant.
What three vertical seals are you talking about though? What side of the block are you looking at?
Is it coming from between the transmission and the block? If so, Im pretty sure its the real main seal.

but anyways to the op, you say backwards up the driveway, but also does your driveway say have a slight tilt to one side or the other, so we know where the oil is being sloshed to

im keeping an eye on this thread cause I recently noticed a couple of drops of oil after parking backwards on an incline.
on mine, it seems like theres a spot from the front of the engine and towards then rear. Its about 18 inches apart.
doesnt leak otherwise though so im not too concerned about it

but as far as being on a incline and leaking it happens, wifey has an 02 chevy cavilar (don't ask), but if you park it on a incline pointing upwards, that is also tilted to the right a little, it leaks outta of the passenger side axle seal on the tranny, cause all the fluid rushes to that courner now, which is putting it "under ATF" now causing it to like leak 2-3 drips or so, and then it is done
otherwise the car is leak free with 160k surprisingly (and no seals have been replaced either, other then the crank seal iirc, and that axle seal lol)

towards the passenger or driver side??? but anyways it seems like it might be a common leak that is just dripping in one spot, but also traveling say along the oil pan to the front, then dripping there too
but yeah what side of the car would help too for finding it (also did you possibly have the oil changed recently, to help make sure it is just not oil on the crossmember itself)

i'll take a look when i get under to change the oil in a month or so. other then that, im not worried about it, doesnt leak when its parked on flat ground and dipstick is within normal levels without adding oil between intervals.

We have live footage of his leak http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlPPFcy-3Vo

blow compressed air along your valve cover gaskets and oil pan, try to make it as dry as possible. Then crank it up and let it run, see if you can find any leaks. A lot of times, car companies use RTV instead of gaskets, and the RTV breaks down over time when exposed to oils.

who the f*** are ^^^ you , have not seen you before
rtv breaking down, not really, but you can say gaskets do the same thing though, then they also relax overtime, which loses tension on the sealing surface which then cause them to leak (so i would almost rather have rtv sealant, even hough it is a bit messy to apply, and prep work wise)
but anyways compressed air sucks for trying to clean off oil, especially with it all embeded and such with dirt, try a pressure washer with some degreaser, works a whole lot better

yea, i know. I'll get some for next time and I'll get a wrench too. That way I dont have to take the locking pliars to the drain plug
does anyone remember what the socket size is for the drain plug? I know its between 15mm and 19mm
