odometer/trip/temperature back lighting out

Hi:

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I have the following problem:

2003 3.2cl that the back lighting for the odometer/trip/temperature cluster lights is inop. It was working intermittently, but have now been out for over 6 months. My research suggest it is not the light bulbs, but something more electrical.

After, consulting a Honda dealer service rep, he informed me that it is a bad circuit board inside the radio display modular, and that in order to fix would require the radio removal. After, doing other research, I found that on TL models this was a "service bulletin" (not included on CL's) but that it was a cluster lights by removing the dashboard not the radio.

I'm trying to see if any other CL'ers out there have had the same problem, and what is the correct fix. The Honda dealer wants about $500, which is insane.

Thanks

Mike

The bulbs are probably bad. It happens. They tend to flicker on their waning days.
