My cars electrical system goes crazy

I'm driving down the road and all of the sudden my cd player cuts off and my speedometer goes down to zero and so does everything else my gas and all the lights on the dash light up . Next thing my ac goes out and when i cut my car off it doesn't really want to crank so i take it up the autozone get my battery tested and they say its my altanator . Now my car just sits in the garage waiting for the dealership to open up tommrow. Has anyone else had this problem . Also I only have 41k miles on my car and i also just got headers installed could any of this effect it ? I dont want the dealership saying that i have I/h thats what caused the problem .

sounds exactly like a problem i had at 42k! My whole instrument panel would shut down sitting at a set of lights and then come back on.... also, 4/5 times starting the car... the fu#king panel would go berzerk and the D5 light would blink (after the srs and engine light would stay on. when i would put the car in gear it would slam into gear....... anyway

it took 5 seperate visits to acura for a few days each visit for them to figure out the problem. It turned out to be loose wiring behind the fuse box. go figure. good luck!

I know this thread is OLD but I have the same problem. Just wondering if the re-wiring that Acura did for the OP fixed the issue?

Thanks

On the alternator.

Check the power cables running from the battery to the alternator. The alternator is on the passenger side of the motor, below the a/c compressor. You have a better shot at reaching it from below the car. If there is corrosion on the battery cables clean it up, and if the cables are crimped or corroded replace them.

Thanks .. I think I solved my problem. The metal contact on the fuel pump relay fuse was scraped nearly clean, preventing a solid connection. Replaced it and now when I jiggle it with pliers, the panel doesn't make a clicking, failure sound!

In the future, please post any problems you are having in the "Problems and Fixes" section. This way, it will be in the right thread, as well as many viewers in there that will try to help you solve the problem. But back to your problem, maybe check the fuses and make sure its not something small, because the dealership can fix your car but they will also R*pe your wallet.....
