Maint light on

I tried turning off the maintenance light, but to not avail. When I held both buttons, the thermometer started fluctuating between -4 and 2 but the maint light didn't turn off.

She's 90,000 miles strong, I probably should clean my comptech icebox filter; I put it on about 5,000 miles ago. Spark plugs. Just changed the oil. I am a bit concerned about having the timing belts adjusted.

My question is, at $135.00 for a maint light diagnosis at the dealership, should I buy myself an ECU-code checker instead?

The 90,000 scheduled maintence is supposed to cost $495.00.

Any general suggestions on how much to rely on the dealership and scheduled maintenance would be appreciated.

I'm currently located in the SF Bay Area and was planning to take her to Hopkins Acura in Redwood City. Are there any other local shops that anyone would recommed over this dealship?

Thanks,

-K

Do you have a maintenance required light or a check engine light?

Maintenance required is the light that's on. Am I correct to assume that one only comes on automatically, and should always turn off? Whereas the Check Engine means something is wrong, and it won't go off until it's fixed.

perhaps I didn't turn if off properly. I did hold it down for a good 20 seconds, or until the temp gauge started going crazy as I said.

Thanks,

-K

Hold the two buttons down while turning the car to the on position. That should do the trick.
