Cheap and quality? No such thing.

Define cheap.

Get Magnaflow mufflers and take'em to muffler shop. I think this is cheapest way. or get CT mufflers(not cheap though). Just keep an eye on BM for used one. That's how I got my CT.

ok a grand for mufflers arent considered cheap. I think you can buy comptech mufflers for less than that! I have seen a few people running the dynomax vt series mufflers with custom chrome tips. And you can get that for around 250 to 300. Thats for the mufflers and tips only. Then go to a shop and have them run you some bigger piping. I know the shops here in jville will save the mandrel bends off of the stock pipes they cut off of trucks and reuse them for the bends in the setup.

Yea, for a grand or so you can do the entire exhaust system. CTs can be found used in the $3-400 range. They are the quietest of the bunch but when you get on it you still hear it. Then there are the Magnaflows, which sound pretty good as well but are louder. Go 2.5" all the way back and get a high flow universal Magnaflow cat. I also suggest a Magnaflow resonator to cut down on the drone.

But if I had $1k to toss at the car, Id get a set of headers (you have an auto so Id suggest the DC headers) and lower the car. No sense going crazy on the auto when the tranny wont last that long.

the reason i reccomend the vt mufflers is because they have the butterflies in them that are closed during normal driving but when you get on it, they open up. Ive heard of magnaflows rattling but Ive never personally used them. I personally am going with stock exhaust and using an electric cut out to open up when I want power. Replacing the cat with a racepipe though.

Maybe you could do a Vid of yours with Tsudo mufflers so he understands how the sound. Keep phone/ca far enough away so it doesn't sound distorted. Back when i had my CL-S6 in 2003, I did HKS Super Draggers as there wasn't an inexpensive option like these. Here is a pic of them.
