Key FOB Programming Question

I just got a keyless remote from ebay ( old one was misplaced and can't find my #2), anyways it's a #2 remote form Canada.

I just wanna know if i program this remote, will it replace the #1 remote that i lost so it can't be used or will it only replace my #2 remote?

I've read the directions and don't see where the car will allow you to differentiate the # remote you wanna replace...

can someone clarify for me please?

OK the remote has been programmed, but i don't know which remote it replaced, i tried the seat position memo, but that doesn't work either.

So can someone also tell me how to get the seat memo in synce with the new remote

thanx

u have to program the memory seat to the remote after you program it to lock and unlock the car. i think the numbers on the back are just for reference, but i could be wrong. you have to hit set the seat u want and set it the way u want and then follow the directoins on the back of the fob to link it to the memory

The car will remember the last THREE remotes programmed into the memory.
If you lost one, I would recommend programming the two you have TWICE to be sure the other one doesn’t work on the car if found by someone else.

Thanks Shawn... I just purchased a '03 fob to replace my disgustingly old and beaten up 01 original transmitter... Paid $65 at the dealership and it took me about 30 seconds to program it with your posted instructions... Thanks again...

Yes... any Acura remote will work as long as it had the same FCC ID that Mike posted. A 03 CL remote will also work for example.

Sorry to bump an old thread. My car never came with a key fob, so I grabbed a used one off e-Bay. Followed the instructions but it just doesn't work. Where's the keyless receiver unit located in the car? I'm currently just pointing it towards the steering wheel area when programming and nothings working.

Point it near the driver side interior door handle.

BTW, dont apologize for bumping an old thread. We encourage it and dont like when people make a new thread about the same thing over and over again.

Well, in the renewed spirit of joyfulness we now feel in bringing up old posts let me caution neophyte re-programers to follow the instructions precisely. I kept trying to re-program the 3 fobs I have accumulated and only getting two of them to work. I tried time and time again. Finally, after re-reading the instructions for the umpteenth time I saw my mistake. You must hit the button on the first Fob twice before proceeding to the 2nd and 3rd Fob. Lesson learned.

The thing I wanted to tell you all about is what to do for a nasty old scratched up and faded Fob. Go to E-Bay and buy one of the new faces and buttons for eleven or twelve bucks. What you get is just what it says, a new face plate and new buttons. The fit, feel, and look just like brand new. It takes a small screwdriver and 1 minute, the procedure is the same as replacing the battery except you add the step of pushing in on one of your buttons after separating the halves of the shell. That lifts the transmitter out of the old face plate (its held in by a semi-ridgid plastic seal). You set the new buttons into the new face plate and set your transmitter on top of it and press lightly to put it in place. Reattach your old back half of the shell and there you have it, a like new Fob.

Sure, I should have included it in the first post. The price is $11.99 plus three bucks to ship it.

Won't work. You can get the key itself cut, but the radio frequencies arent the same. I was trying to figure something out about two years ago but it got pushed to the back burner.

I lost control in the strange snow we had this past Saturday in NY, hit a guy on his driver door on his brand new MDX(Acura on Acura crime)

Then that sent me into the divider, the damage wasn't even that bad but everyone was saying the car will get totaled out because it would cost more than its value to fix.

But now they've decided to fix it, but i'm mad at the fact they say it won't be a perfect job since they are using aftermarket part, I just wish they would've totaled it out but I will see what it looks like and if i'm not happy I will just sell it

Talk to the shop doing the work and see if they could either a)try to strong arm the ins co to using OEM parts or b) total it out.

There arent many aftermarket body parts for the CL anyway. Headlights will definitely be OEM.

They already started the work and estimated due date is Friday, on a non related note sometimes it's like my car doesn't shift gears right and sounds like the tranny isn't responding properly, is this a sign my tranny might be on it's way?

Question #1 and #2 fobs?

My CL came with just one remote. How can I tell if it's a #1 or a #2?

Thanks

Itll say it on the back, unless its worn off. In which case, set the memory seating for #1 and #2, then unlock the doors with that key fob. Whichever setting the seats go to will tell you which fob you have.

is there anyway to tell if its the wrong one? I verified with the seller that it would work for a 99 tl and he did confirm that it would.
