How long in between oil changes?

My 02 CL-S I picked up is not my daily driver, due to repairs I had to get done in late Nov/early Dec (started driving our Toyota to work).
I have had the car for 5 1/2 months and have put less than 4k miles total on it. I have read 5k miles is when oil change ideally would be done, but also know realistically I won't get to that mark until the Spring.

Will I be ok to wait?

modern oil is great!!!
modern oil can last pretty long!

i believe the owners manual will state to change it out after a year tho.
in my brothers truck, he doesnt drive much, he hit's 6k every 6 months, and I change it then.
(not very scientific, more anecdotal...but you get the picture!)

I think it will be fine the way you are doing it now.
and also, in Texas...it's already Spring time!! lol

I chose 6k intervals because that's what my 3rd gen TL's maintenance reminder on the dash averages.. sometimes it'll hit 7k intervals and some times it will hit 5k intervals. I chose 6k intervals on all my families cars, to make it easier on myself on remembering mileages. For cars that dont have a "maintenance reminder" , like my bros Truck

your magic number seems to be 5k oil change intervals.

follow Acura's recommended schedule as it is TIME or MILEAGE based

that IS my experience

Do what Acura tells you to do in regards to oil changes. I do mostly highway driving so I fall under 7.2K changes. In the winter time due to extreme temps I shorten it up accordingly to around 5K

I go 7500 miles between oil changes--like all modern cars do. I use a good quality dino oil. I haven't lost an engine yet. I would say LACK of oil is more detrimental to an engine than a longer oil change interval. Just my .02.

I use the Castrol Magnatec 5w30 oil and a Purolator pure one filter and change when the manual says, around 7500 miles. I have 140 k on the odometer

Not at all scientifically, or manufacturer based, I change my oil every 6 months, or 5,000 miles. I know this is overkill, perhaps, but it gives me a piece of mind, type of psychological satisfaction. The last time I replaced the rocker arm cover gaskets, approximately 230,000 miles, and 16 years from new, both the valve train components, and the top ares of the cylinder head, remain spotlessly clean, and looking like new.

High mileage

my 01 cl-s has 312,120 miles on it and it runs like a champ! Although when I got it it had a LOT of issues ha ha. Almost done fixing all of them, money allowing. Though I use Mobile 1 full synthetic high mileage 5-30 in mine and change every 5k miles no matter what. Unless I forget and go over a little. Even then this engine was very well taken care of and only leaks oil out of the back valve cover gasket. So yeah. Mobile one full synthetic is all this baby is ever going to get. And even with my lol. Spirited driving I still get really good gas mileage out if it. I might fill the tank once every week and a half. But that’s with everyday driving and in town traffic.

I have ave noticed that if your vTech tries to crap out on you and keeps the RPM,s to 3,500 max, it’s probably low on oil. I top it off and it goes right back to working again.
