HID problem
HID problem
ok i turn my headlights on and they come on fine, well after about 25 sec my right HID flickers and cuts off, i can cut my lights all the way off and cut them back on and it comes on for another 20-25 sec then goes away, is this a bad ballast
Hi,
I'm brand new here, but from past HID experience, I'd suggest looking into the ballast and it's wiring. I really don't see it being a bulb issue, as it is intermittent. I would think a bad bulb just wouldn't fire and come one at all.
Good luck, and post back your findings!

a. The bulb
b. The Inverter
c. The electrical wire getting loose in the Plastic Automotive Electrical Connector that plugs into the inverter. This problem had plague me for sometime as I have intermittent lights on & off. The dealer finally fixed it but crimping the electrical contact tightly with the wire. I couldn't have guessed it.
Sorry
.....only way to get to the inverter is thru bumper removal. Poor Honda design
for maintenance or should I say another way for Honda to make more $$$$$$
.
I say it is a bad ballast. Mine did the same thing as yours and when the new kit came I did not remove the bumper. Just order two new ballasts and bulbs on line, and splice the new ones into the system. I did both sides. The kit will come with instructions. The new ballasts are small and can be tucked away out of sight in the engine compartment if you want. Most cars are 12 volts to halogen bulb; our HID systems are 12 volts to ballast to bulb. Hope this helps.

By the way, ballast are in the price range of $100+ a pair (Morimoto brand) & Philips Brand bulbs 85126+ D2R are $95 a pair. Definitely way cheaper than what the dealers
