Cool help gas milage

I have a 2001 acura cl type s and drive about 60 miles a day to and from work,I have tried everything and only get 23 to 24 mpg.I drive 70 and run the air ,does anyone have this problem. Some say it is the type s,I see some on here that say they get 28 to 30 mpg.Are they driving a type s or stock cl,Any one with a type s please let me know what mpg your car is getting, and any help to get more out of mine would be great.

If you drive 100% highway, you should get 26-28 mpg with a Type S.

Seems pretty normal to me. Turn off the AC when your driving around town, roll up the windows when your on the freeway and driver slower.

I drove about 100 miles all highway, drafting rigs, staying around 55, AC off, windows closed and got back 37.8 MPGs.

I always run with the a/c on on the highway, at 75 and drive about 40 miles each way for work now. I average 26mpg mixed and thats with the 3.6l and a heavy foot.

The best I got was 32mpg, that was with the a/c on. The auto revs lower then the 6MT, so he should be able to match my mileage, if not beat it even with the a/c on. Unless of course he floors it often.

19mpg IF i am lucky , normally in the 16-17 range, but yeah it's beating the living shit out of it at times also though

edit: almost forgot, it DID not improve, or decrease when i swapped to the 6-speed, stayed the same (i think the lower revs of the auto, is sucked right out by the lack of efficiency in the slushbox)

Thats what Im saying. Hondas in general seem to be very picky with spark plugs, which is why I only use NGKs.

very true, i learned that first hand just recently

As far as your gas mileage, it seem about right, but i know i get about 26-28 highway and 19-22 in town, and i have a heavy foot. I noticed if you keep the rpms at 3k or below, then my mpg shot up to great numbers...
Ngk plugs, and make sure no sensors are bad and the cat is not clogged, and you should be straight

densos also seem to work quite well with honda also, but NGK still squeaks by them for honda though, (densos do work awesome in toyotas though lol)

17.1 gallons, but it all depends on how much he put in the tank. My light usually comes on at 13.5-14 gallons.

Ok, if memory serves correctly thats the correct plug. Our cars are very picky with anything that isnt NGK.

Do you use the sport shift function at all or let the car do all the shifting?

I also forgot to ask, but does your area have a lot of hills? That takes its toll on gas mileage as well.

hills can actually be an advantage though, especially if you adapt to them; coast down them, then use your momentum to help get up the next one

btw you should try going up mountains instead (coming down you get awesome mileage though lol)

Ive averaged 31mpg at 80 through the mountains with a/c and NO cruise control.

If you pay attention to the way truck drivers drive through the mountains, you can actually get good gas mileage. The problem is most people rely on cruise control and think it saves gas. On flat ground, yes. Through the hills, no. Because it scrubs off whatever momentum you may gather going downhill to keep your speed constant, then generally applies a healthy amount of throttle on the uphill sections to make up for it.

I let it shift itself, and no hills.I guess I was used to a Eclipse getting about 30mpg but the diff. in the comfort in this car can out weigh the 6mpg diff. The car runs perfect and with the new chrome Boss wheels it has the road race look sitting still.

UMM......... what size?, cause plus sizing wheels, can suck the gas mileage away instantly, especially in city type of driving

they are 225/40zr18,I notice a little harder ride with them but seem to be close in height as my stock wheels were.

but about a 0.5 inch shorter then stock, and that would help in the city with torque, compared to the highway, where the engine has to rev a little more for the same speed

but the biggest thing though, is that they are heavier then stock, along with more of the weight towards the circumference of the tire though

And i bet those Boss rims are heavy too.

The words chrome boss wheels and race do not belong together in the same sentence.

Anything under about 25 pounds per rim minus the tire should be good. I think stock is around 22 pounds.
