Front license plate help
Front license plate help
My 2002 Cl doesn't have any brackets to mount the front license plate onto the car... I was wondering what the best way to mount it is? Espacially without scratching or damaging it... Thanks in advance.
There is a front license plate holder that you can get from Acura that will mount it without having to put holes in your bumper.
^ But over time it will scratch the face of the bumper.
If you look at the bumper where the OEM bracket would mount, you can bolt a piece of angle iron up on the factory holes. Or you could drill holes on that same part and mount the plate to one side (cleaner IMO). The holes will be on the underside of the bumper so you wont see them.

Plus the plate holder sticks out like a good few inches from the front of the bumper, making it look even more pointy. I'm taking it off for sure when I get my bumper painted and mounting the plate in the lower grill.

If you take the OEM bracket and put the license plates top wholes where the bottom are sappoused to be then hacksaw and sand the rest away so you cant even see it
plate droped several inchs*
no scraching of bumper*
takes aprox 15-20 mins*
Just my

Interesting option.
My only concern with cutting away most of the plate bracket is that it reduces the structural integrity, and if you're traveling down the highway at 70+ mph theres a chance that the plate may come in contact with the bottom portion of the bumper.
Do you have any pics?
