When i have my 02 CL type s in tap shift it will automatically put me into second after accelerating... dont know if this is a sign of the tranny going... anyone else have this problem??

 

1st to 2nd gear shift is done automatic even in manual mode. ...

thanks i was worried because my friends tsx didnt shift from 1st to second like that... but good to know its the the trany going bad

 

Now forgetting to up-shift fro 2nd to 3rd is a bad idea... smelling burnt clutch from an AT, not a good thing...

 

It has nothing to do with saving the transmission. It was intentionally programmed that way in the CL and earlier TLs. The newer TL (2007+) will let you happily bounce off of the revlimiter in first all day long with the AT.
