I have an 2003 Acura CL Type S Manual w/navi and recently, while I'm driving, the engine and all the gauges will shut off without notice. I would normally have to coast to the nearest gas station or emergency lane and wait 1-2 minutes to restart the engine. If I try before that, the starter cranks, but the engine does not turnover. The car does not sputter or anything before it turns off, it just randomly shuts off. I thought it was a battery problem, but the radio, A/C, and navigation stay on. When the engine shuts off, all the needles go down and my digital gauge turns off. Does anyone have any idea of what could be causing this problem? Any ideas would help. Thanks.

 

i had a similar problem. i have a manual and i would die randomly, but i was able to start it back up while cruising. i cleaned out the IAC valve and it seemed to have fixed the issue. you can try to clean it with some carb/throttle cleaner or replace with a new one.

 

That, or a bad ground cable or connection. Get your battery tested as well.
