Death of clutch or axle?

So I was driving out of work today and was at a red light. I went to into first and kind of accelerated a little bit and then POP and the car wont go. I was like SHIT there goes my clutch, but after reading a few threads I saw that I could've snapped an axle. When I hit the gas pedal I get a clunky sound, so that might be my axle... Also I can put it into gear while the car is ON and OFF. Any ideas?

OEM is expensive if you can even find one. In my opinion an aftermarket axle will be just as good and offers a better warranty normally.

^ Same with Advance, and you can order online (pick up in store) using one of the many coupons they have.
