cracked airbox

my car has had a loud humming noise coming from it so i took it to the dealership and they said the airbox is cracked (how?? i have no idea) and it would cost 200 to fix it. i was wondering if the job is simple enough just to do myself and if anyone has an OEM airbox they don't need. thanks!!

The job should be simple enough for you to do youself. You could post a WTB thread in the Black Market for a factory airbox (you will probably get it for super cheap).

Another option would be to upgrade to a comptech Icebox, but that will cost you around $289 but will give you some added performance and a reuseable air filter.

Did the dealership tell you which part of the airbox is cracked?

Well the difficulty of fixing it could be affected. I haven' t seen a stock airbox for a while, but if I remember correctly, replacing the top part of the airbox is as simple as removing four screws.

I'd have to say around $20. That is about how much I've seen them go for. Just look in the black market for any for sale threads and if you don't find any post up a WTB (want to buy) thread.

Try Ebay & local junk yards as well. You can really get away from this cheap. Under $50 for sure. Install is really easy, all you need is a few basic hand tools & 30 minutes of time.
