I have an 01 cl type s. How much coolant does our car use? It's usually because were using ac right? Sorry dont know much about cars. Basically what I'm trying to say is that, I just recently filled up my coolant and noticed it just about after 1 week, it already used up 1/4 of the coolant. i dont see any leaks. is this normal? Thanks!

No, it's not normal to lose that much coolant. Check again for leakage. Somewhere it's leaking.

99% of the time cars do not use coolant. If you are noticing that your car is losing coolant, you have a leak somewhere, or your headgasket is blown. Do you notice blue smoke coming from your exhaust? If not, check the passenger side of the motor for leaking coolant, or check the thermostat housing where the upper radiator hose connects to the motor. Also check the lower radiator hose, then finally, the radiator itself.

When you filled your coolant up, did you bleed the system of all the air? It could be possible that you have a massive air bubble in there that worked its way out and made it appear as though you lost coolant. Also check your overflow tank, is there any coolant in there?

Your car should not use any coolant. Why did you fill it up? Did you just happen to check it or did you do maintenance on it? If your loosing coolant you need to find where its leaking or if you have a head gasket leak. Many shops can pressure test your system for you to find leaks.

Blue smoke= oil, white smoke= coolant. I used about 1 1/4gallons when I filled my coolant.

fsttyms1 I filled it up beacuse it was half way full. But i read on our owners manual that were not supposed to fill it all the way to the top. I didnt do any maintenance on it. I just happen to look in there and thought that it looked like it was running low. I'll probably do that pressure leak test as soon as I get a chance to. Thanks

I do have white smoke when I first start my car in the morning. I dont think that's the case. That's just because the engine is still cold right?!

I will check all hoses again, it might need to get the pressure test by shop though.
