Coolant flush kit???

Hello.

I just got the coolant flush kit to refresh old coolant. The problem is that I can't find two heather hoses extended from firewall to engine. I already read a couple of articles and videos. Can you guys post a picture of CL engine bay?

Thanks.

Why do you need to get to the heater hoses?

cause the coolant runs thru the heater core, thats how you get heat.

check near the firewall on the passenger side.

Yes, but you dont need to remove them. Turn on the heat and the coolant will circulate. Removing the hoses gives you a better chance at introducing air to the system, which is no fun when it is in the heater core.

Do you mean I don't have to use the kit? How to flush the old dirty stuff inside cooling system?

Does the kit actually tell you to remove the heater hoses?

normally you can just get away with draining the system completely. Drain the radiator, overflow and engine block.

Yes, it does. What they said in the instruction is that cut one of the hoses, put the kit between the cutting edges, and then connect a garden hose. I have seen some videos regarding to using the kit on youtube. However I can't find which hose I should use.

Thanks.

I cant see how that method would work properly since the system need to be under pressure to function correctly. I usually drain the system, then refill it.

Some shops have machines that pressurize the system and do a complete flush.

I have seen the garden hose method being taught before too. its basically like using the water to push the coolant out of the engine. i think a simple drain and refill would be sufficient enough.

I've got a diagram of heater core part from online parts shop.
What they told me:

There are actually two heater inlet hoses. There is a water valve that allows hot coolant to travel to the heater core. The hose between the engine and the water valve is p/n 79721-S0K-A01 and is $3.83, discounted from $5.10. The hose between the water valve and the firewall is p/n 79722-S87-A00, $3.33, normally $4.44. You can see these hoses in the diagram under "Air Conditioner and Heater - Heater Components - Inlet Hose - #1" and click "View Illustration". The hoses I am referring to are numbers 10 and 11. Number 13 is the return hose that sends the coolant back to the engine.

Can you guys check it for me?

Thanks.

The correct hose was #10. I cut the middle of #10 hose and put "T" and tight the both ends up. In my case the garden hose didn't fit to radiator cap hole, so the garden hose connected directly to upper radiator hose. The hole process took me 15 mins to drain and refill. I think the kit is pretty good.

Thanks.

I did by myself.
That is much cheaper than what the shop charge.

Thanks.
