Code 1259 no vtec limp mode??

Hey guys. It seems like more and more things are happenin with my ack.... Well I was in la traffic, which was in gridlock. Well I saw an opening in the next lane, so I punched it to get in and my car stumbled bad. Immediately the engine light and tcs came on. I pulled over and saw an autozone, and luckily there was a mechanic there who happened to be buying a battery, so he let me follow him to his house and he scanned it for me. Well it threw the 1259 error code and he told me that my vtec is fucked up. I was able to drive it to san Diego but if I go over 4000 rpm it sputters ugly. My question is is it bad to drive the car while the vtec is nonfunctional? I have to drive it 400 miles home from sd and I'm worried about it harming my motor. If I take it easy on. Acceleration, it will coast doing 80@ 2000 rpm down the freeway. So what should I do? And how hard is it to replace the vtec oil switch? Please help asap I don't want to mess my car up. I leave on Sunday the 23 of Jan so I can do a lil work In the mean time to it if it's not too difficult. Please give your input asap. Thanks -Isaac.

Swapping the switch shouldnt take long.

Check your oil level though.
