ok... I was just wondering... I am getting a winding noise when i turn on the A/C and it has only stared happening since i installed the UR pulleys. I think it might be under powering the A/C unit or something. let me know if you ever find out what the problem is.

Check your tires, and did you change all of the bearings? They make winding noises when they go bad.

Yeps, tires are all good. All the barrings been change. It sounds like something from the engine. Acura tried to doop me by tell me its my axle and halfshalft, but i change those.

Alternator bearing? Rare on these cars but not to be overlooked. Does it wine in park also or just driving down the road? If you think it is belt/pulley related I would remove all belts and see if the noise goes away. If it does you can pinpoint by adding belts one at a time. Usually belts squeek not wine.

Did the noise happen after the trans was replaced? Or was the trans replaced for this reason? or other trans problems. A lot can go wrong on a trans replacement.

You Need to find a good Acura dealer you can trust and ask for their drivetrain specialist. my

Thumbs down

The noise only can be heard when the car is in motion, as I accelerate the noise started to get louder. Very annoying whinding noise.

I think i'm getting that same noise... I can hear it barely when my car is idle but when I drive it's definitely gets louder. At first I thought it was the tires but then I started to hear it when idle... I am taking my car to the stealership this week, I'll let you know if they find anything and make it go away.

Just for sanity check since I am a noob... my '01 CL-s has 41k miles on it.... Does acura still consider this under warranty? Because the stealership replaced my rear view mirror with no charge.

I'm not sure, but that should be covered under warranty.

I have the same problem with my 01 cl. I took it to the dealer and they said they thought it was the tranny, but mine had already been replaced. So they moved on the the A/C Compressor, found that it was fine, then looked at the Intake, said that whoever last worked on the car and replaced the filter broke the fasteners on the filter box, but that still wasnt the problem. After like a week of not having a car I just said screw it and I have been living with the noise ever since. I thought for a minute that it might have something to do with the electronics because when I turn my aftermarket radio off, the noise goes away, or atleast fades. Its bad around like 4-5K RPM and then when you shift it goes away until the RPM's get back to around 5k. Weirdest thing, if anyone figures out what it is, please post because I hate the noise.

I took mine to the dealership, they couldn't pinpoint the problem.... It's not the most annoying sound and I can only hear it with the windows open and now that it is fall I am not going to bother with it for now.

I had a whine noise coming from the car when I would accelerate, or while cruising in overdrive. The dealership told me it was from the trans/torque converter. The first time they replaced the trans being that it was really loud. With the new one it wasn't as noticeable, but still there. Now I don't even notice it with the comptech s/c'r installed. Solution: Install comptech supercharger.

Did you remove the stock airbox lower assembly in the fenderwell? I did that and it made the car go a bit faster but there was this crazy hum sort of noise.

had the same problem

I had the same problem and i first noticed it when i was driving on the highway. Definately annoying (not to mention embarassing when you're trying to look all cool in your acura) I went to my Acura dealer and they told me it was the belt tensioner... 5 months later (I decided to take my chances) I brought it to another mechanic, he confirmed it was the tensioner, got it replaced for $280, and (that) noise went away.

Hope this helps...
