humming? or hissing? make sure all the vacuum hoses are installed correctly...and the filter is properly tightened...if its a hissin noise rather than a hummin...its normal

I Have the same problem, but i dnt have an after market intake setup on mine. Mine is caused by a broken clip on my intake box. Little gap makes a noticable HuMM. Make sure all hose are on tight and Vac lines are setup tight. Hope this helps

it could just be because you installed the intake. the aftermarket intake doesnt have the intake resonator so no doubt there is more sound, expecially for a short ram at idle. it sounds like a humming spaceship to me.

yes I agree. When I installed the injen CAI it made the car sound different all the time.

When u start the motor and the engine is cold it will be VERY noticeable (mine is more of a hissssssssssss vs a hummmmmm) But i got the CAI so it could very well be the difference in intake ... after it's warmed up check the noise level again and it should be wayyy less.

Also you'll notice the noise more when the a/c is on.

And at around 1800-2000rpms throttling JUST A BIT you'll notice the noise as well.

Lemme know if I'm wrong, but I highly doubt the noise appeared because of anything other than your intake.

a CAI sounds good, louder. a short ram just sounds annoying to me. no offense to people with a SRI.

^ the CAI will be fine with water aslong as your not dropped to the ground racing through puddles. if anything buy a bypass valve for the intake. you will be fine

your intake has to be submerged to make the bypass even work and even still when the hell will that even happen.

If you car sucks up enough water to hydrolock I'll blame the driver for thinking their behind the wheel of a boat..

Or its incredibly bad luck, and in that case something was gonna happen anyways.

The humming is a resonance related to the length of piping that a short ram intake uses. Factory intakes use harmonics are part of proper intake tuning. If I had to guess, that resonance is because the length of a short ram intake tube is very close to the length of the post filter intake on the stock airbox, therefore has the low pitch hum. I did a crapload of research on fluid dynamics and intake tuning before I started making an intake setup for my car. I have a 3 inch 45 degree silicone elbow hooked up to a 6 inch velocity stack attached to a 6 inch amsoil filter. I initially had the hose shoved in the stock intake tube and I had the harmonic hum. When I mounted the silicone elbow directly on the throttle body, thus changing the length of the intake tube, the hum was gone. More to follow as I am now working on building the CF airbox around the filter.
