I started up my car last night and the Heater Fan did not come on. I put the heat all the way up to 90 but the fan did not go on. When I am driving I can feel a slight amount of heat comming out of the vent but the fan is definately not working. I checked the big fuse under the hood for the Fan and the small one on the driver side fuse pannel and both are OK. I never had a problem with it before. I did notice that in the last week or so, my pannel warning lights dim when I start the car and I think that although my battery (3 years old) starts the car it may be getting weak - could this have anything to do with the heater fan not working?

Last night I put in a new battery. Car starts better, but still no heater. Cleaned and checked both pos and neg terminals.
I guess it must be the fan motor or some wiring problem between fuse box/control and heater fan.
Anyone know the best way to get to the power leads to the fan motor to check for current?

Manual Mode
Yes - Both manual and automatic with temp up to 90 degrees.
Tonight I will pull off the power plug and test to see if I am getting power to the fan. That should let me know if it is the fan or the switch on the dash (I hope).

Over the weekend, I took the fan motor out of the heater casing and hooked it up to my battery power. It worked fine! Then I plugged it into the normal power plug while it was out of the heater casing and turned on the heat and it worked fine. I reinstalled it in the heater casing and it worked fine. I have no idea why it was not wroking before. The plug was locked in when I removed the fan, so I don't think it was a loose plug.
I drove three hours last night and again this morning and the heater works fine.

Just a quick addition - when I took the Blower Motor out of the housing, there was quite a good amount of small pieces of leaves in the blower. I did clean the leaves out before reinstalling it. There couldn't be some sort of sensor that would have picked up the additional pressure in the blower because it was 1/3 full of leaves?

Sounds like it has an automatic "shutoff clutch" similar to washers, when they get too much pressure on them, they don't spin to prevent the motor from burning out, probably the same sort of issue.
