2003 CL type s 6 speed manual shifter trim

I recently got a 2003 Type S with the 6 speed manual transmission and the plastic shifter trim piece has broken clips that make it so it doesn't stay in place. I've been searching high and low for replacements, but after hours of searching, the only one I could find was on ebay for $100!

Does anyone know where I can find a reasonably priced trim piece for this? My current solution is to tape it down but I don't want that to stay that way for long.

Also, if anyone knows about any specific place to find parts for this car in general, that would be swell. Or perhaps what other cars have similar parts that often are compatible?

And yes, before you ask, I have checked the local junkyards. They have no CL's at all, type S or otherwise.

These are your options:
1) Pay $265.86 + $24.91 (#35 & #36 on the link below) before shipping for a New OEM BOOT ASSY., CHANGE LEVER *NH1L* (BLACK) and EMBLEM from an online Acura parts vendor.

2) Snatch up that reasonably priced $100 2003 Acura 3.2CL Type-S OEM 6 Speed Manual Transmission Shifter Trim & Boot on ebay.
3) Keep 'checking' all the local junkyards for a rare CLS six speed to show up with your desired part for less than the one listed in #2 above.

Good Luck!

Wow I had no idea OEM parts were that expensive for such a small piece of plastic. Thank you for the reply and information. Perhaps I will buy that ebay listing, but money is a bit tight right now so it might be a little while before I'm able to get it if it even is still available.

How bad is it? do you think it is something that you might be able to plastic weld?

if it were mine: I would try to repair it, then while it was out of the car, spray the outward facing bits with matte finish lacquer to give it a near new finish.

not sure what can be done about the leather boot BUT I presume that the reason why the high price for the part is because it includes a new leather boot, which for me I would buy as I like the look of a nice clean shift knob, boot and steering wheel.

I agree. Depending on how 'beat-up' the silver base is, one could refinish that and buy a 'real' leather shift boot from redlinegoods.com. That's what I did when the faux leather OEM one started to deteriorate.
