Post 2003 Acura cl-type S 6speed mt reliability?

Hi I previously owned a 1997 Acura cl 2.2 when i was in high school. I loved it and I recently found a cl type s 6 speed mt with nav. I know these are rare having only 2700 being made. I would really like to purchase it for $6500 but I am worried about the reliability. It has 180,000 miles on it and after searching for the reliability on the mt I have not been able to find anything on it. So what do you think acurazine is it a good purchase and what problems would I have with that mileage on it. Thanks.

Rust could be a problem. Make sure the timing belt was done, and keep in mind that the next TB service is in 30k miles. Check the clutch. The seat motors tend to lock up, but thats an easy fix - just unjam the gears.

Make sure it shifts through all gears well. Put it in fourth around 30mph and floor it. Keep an eye on the tach, make sure it picks up revs smoothly and doesnt jump. If it jumps, the clutch is slipping. Feel for any vibrations as well. They could be indicative of bad mounts, axles, wheels out of balance, or worst case, bad differential bearings (although thats a violent shake). A weak point is the braking system, they are undersized and tend to warp.

It has 180,000 miles
Too high for that price. Your going to have the problems a 180K mile car has, Acura or not.
The engines are fine. It's all the little things that add up. Pretty much the same as the auto's for reliability for everything but the trans. The 6MT trans is pretty good. But again 180K, you may see issues.

The drivetrain in the 6MT is solid. Like civic said, make sure the 105k service has been done and find out when it was done because it's due again at 210k. The service will run you about 600-1000 dollars.

I would request all maintenance records if available. Perform acceleration test in 4th. look at the suspension parts, look at the underside of car for any possible structural damage. Check CV joints and Engine Mounts. Overall I have had mine for 92k with a supercharger and no issues other regular maintenance stuff.

Look at the oil if it is clean it will tell you alot about the car. Someone who maintains the car regularly, will do frequent oil changes. (look for clear or close to clear dipstick) Mine has 150km's and runs great...

Oil with 100 miles on it looks the same as oil with 3000 miles on it.

Really you believe that not on a car that has 180,000 miles on it. If it is new you can get away with saying that not on a 180,000 vehicle that hasn't been serviced regularly.

Mine has 153k currently, and I used to work at a Jiffy Lube when I was in high school. Ive seen tons of cars that went 10-15k between changes and others that ran 1k. Some old, some new. We even had an Expedition that went 42k miles (seriously) between changes. No difference in the appearance of the oil.

Brand new oil out of the container is golden. Drive on it, heat it up, it changes to brown.

So yes, I believe it.
