Here's what happened
the passenger headlight was out, I turned the lights off then

the passenger was on and the drivers was out, turned them off again
I had no lights

finally turned them off and on and both are on

the switch is the cheapest thing to try about $60 new from acura

The headlights are a little over a month old

Sounds like ballast issues in these new HID kits on the market, especially the small ballasts. I'm not sure how they work in our headlights, though. Im' sure someone will chime in.

Check the connector & make sure the wire & terminal are tightly secured. This happened to me a few years ago & it was driving me nuts to diagnose whether it was the ballast or something else. I would turn the head light on & wiggle the wire near the connector and then the headlight would shut off or turn on. See this photo for reference (courtesy of sailojai):

The Acura dealer fixed it by recrimping the wire to the terminal free of charge.

If this is fixed & you're still having the problem, then I would suspect it is the ballast.

Just wondering by your headlights being a month old, do you mean you got a new ballast too? From what i know, the OEM ballast normally starts acting up after 5 years. Just my experience and a few other of my friends with the CL.

My headlight had been about 5 years old (as I can recall) when I started having the ballast problem. I bought my pre-owned CL in 2007 & had the loose wire & ballast problem in 2008. True to what you said, OEM ballast last about 5 years. But I will never replace them w/ an OEM ballast since they are more labor required to get to it. Instead, I'll use an aftermarket ballast like those Morimotos & just attach them to the side of the automobile w/ the supplied bracket. Cut a slot on the side of the HID cap, route the wire through the slot & apply some GE silicone to prevent moisture. I did this to the passenger side headlight and will do the same for the driver side ballast once it goes dead.
